Quenched steel wire
How much do you know about the production process of quenching steel wire? Below, our manufacturer will provide a detailed introduction.
Quenching steel wire comes out of the furnace with complete austenite. If the cooling rate is too fast, it generally results in hard martensite,
which is fundamentally impossible to draw. After adding the additive Aqua Quench 110 to the water, AQ110 can increase the viscosity of the water and raise the vaporization temperature of the water,
reducing thermal conductivity and forming a layer of steam film on the surface of the hot steel wire. The quenching steel wire does not come into direct contact with water, but exchanges heat with water through the steam film in the water.
This achieves slow cooling of the steel wire. The quenching steel wire must never come into contact with water before the transformation is complete; it must be surrounded by the steam film generated by boiling.
The transformation is not finished; contact between the quenching steel wire and water will form martensite. To ensure the stability of the steam film,
the surface tension at the steam-water interface must meet a minimum value. This means that the concentration of active AQ must be sufficiently high.
