The steps to quench iron wire to turn it into steel wire are as follows:
Steel wire, referring to wire-like material processed from iron-carbon alloys with a carbon content of 0.2-2%.
Iron wire, referring to wire-like material processed from iron-carbon alloys with a carbon content of less than 0.2%.
Quenching, iron wire cannot be turned into steel wire, and the carbon content does not change.
Quenching can harden iron wire or steel wire because the metallographic structure changes from pearlite to martensite. The quenching process at home is as follows: heat the steel wire to about 900 degrees until it glows red, after about 5 minutes, quickly place the steel wire into water, be careful not to get burned.
In factories, quenching methods include water quenching, oil quenching, and lead quenching, etc., which are commonly used technologies in the steel wire rope industry.
China produces 1.8 million tons of steel ropes annually. Phosphated steel wire ropes are a revolutionary innovation in the global steel wire rope field, with a significant increase in service life (fatigue life). The historical mission of smooth steel wire ropes has been completed, and we have fully entered the era of phosphated coated steel wire ropes.
1. Phosphated coated steel wire ropes, steel wires treated with manganese or zinc-manganese phosphating, have significantly improved wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and rust prevention capabilities. The fatigue life is about three times that of smooth steel wire ropes of the same structure. Please verify the fatigue life through fatigue testing (it is an upgraded product of smooth steel wire ropes and can also replace galvanized steel wire ropes with a thin zinc layer that is first plated and then drawn. Currently, supply is still tight and demand exceeds supply).
2. Galvanized steel wire ropes, hot-dip galvanized and electro-galvanized.
3. Stainless steel wire ropes, 304 or 316 stainless steel.
4. Plastic-coated steel wire ropes, with a layer of polyethylene or polypropylene coated on the surface of the steel wire rope.
5. Smooth steel wire ropes will be completely replaced by phosphated coated steel wire ropes.
In atmospheric environments, manganese-based phosphated coated steel wire ropes are preferred, while in heavily corrosive environments, hot-dip galvanized-phosphated double-coated steel wire ropes are preferred. When purchasing, please indicate phosphated coated steel wire ropes on the invoice, and the outer packaging of the steel wire ropes should have a patent number marked to prevent being deceived by smooth steel wire ropes. For reference only.
